Slumbay House

Rental Periods

The house is available for rent for full weeks only (Saturday to Saturday), with check in available from 16.00pm on the Saturday of arrival and check out until 10.00am on the Saturday of departure.

Short breaks may be possible under certain circumstances, primarily outside peak season (November to mid December and mid January to March). Please contact us to check.

Accommodation

The house can accommodate up to a maximum of seven people in one single and three double bedrooms.

It has a large open-plan combined living, dining and kitchen area, with oak flooring and a wood-burning stove for those long cosy evenings. General heating is, however, provided very efficiently via an underfloor system in the ground floor open-plan area and two principal double bedrooms, and via conventional radiators in the upstairs bedrooms.

The two principal bedrooms on the ground floor boast en-suite bathrooms and a third bathroom on the upper floor is intended to serve the final double bedroom and the single bedroom. There is also a small cloakroom and toilet off the entrance hallway.

A large deck exists at the rear of the house overlooking the sea with a stunning view encompassing Slumbay Island and much of Loch Carron and patio furniture is available.

Wheelchair Access

The whole of the ground floor has been designed to be wheelchair access friendly, including a ramp leading up to the front door.

Facilities

The kitchen is modern and well equipped with a large ceramic hob, extractor hood, oven and microwave, all by AEG. The large capacity fridge freezer and the dishwasher are by Electrolux. Separate Bosh washing machine and dryer are provided inside a small utility / airing cupboard off the main kitchen area.

Fresh towels and bed linen are provided at the start of each stay and will be changed on subsequent Saturdays for those staying more than one week.

Amenities

The following amenities are provided for the convenience of guests:

  • Welcome Pack including some tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits and a bottle of some rather nice red wine.
  • Ecover cleaning products (dishwasher tablets, washing powder, washing up liquid, hob cleaner, general purpose cleaner).
  • Bed linen (including spares).
  • Dishcloths & tea towels.
  • Initial set of toiletries (soaps, body wash, shampoo & conditioner) and a reasonable supply of toilet rolls.
  • Towels* (not to be taken away from Slumbay House).
  • Firewood (including firelighters & kindling).
  • Salt and pepper.
  • Filters for coffee percolator.

*Note: If you need towels for the beach please bring your own.

Restrictions

Please note that we generally operate “No Children under 5 Years Old” and “No Pets” policies, although we do sometimes relax this under certain circumstances. Please check with us before making a booking using the details in the Contact Us page.

Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the house.

We promote a “No Shoes Inside” policy so would ask that you bring slippers or cosy socks with you when you come and stay.

Connectivity

Free Wi-Fi is provided, as well as a Freesat enabled 50 inch smart TV in the main room. A good Vodafone 4G signal is normally available throughout the house.

A music system is also provided that will play CDs and also incorporates a radio tuner (the number of available “over the air” stations is limited though). This is also fitted with a Bluetooth dongle to enable you to pair compatible devices.

A DVD Player is also provided along with a selection of DVDs have been provided for your enjoyment. Please leave them in the house when you leave. Click to download a pdf file with an indicative list of the DVDs available.

Other Entertainment

In addition to the selection of DVDs available in the house, board games (Scottish Monopoly, Risk, Cards) have been provided along with a few books.

Location and Parking

The house is located on a quiet side road off the main thoroughfare through Lochcarron village, itself an important waypoint on the now famous North Coast 500. It is located between the side road and the sea with uninterrupted views over Slumbay Harbour and towards Attadale on the far side of the Loch.

Off-road parking is available for 2 to 3 cars. The double garage situated on the property is not part of the holiday let and is out of bounds to guests, other than in exceptional circumstances.

Local facilities, including a small supermarket, cashpoint, post office, golf course, library and seasonal cafés and bistros are all either within a short walk or a five-minute drive away.
